The woods are basically golf clubs that gained its name from the materials that were used to create the clubs a few decades ago. Fairway Woods

The fairway woods, 3-wood and the 5-wood clubs, are similar to the drivers, but feature a smaller head and a less flexible shaft. This makes it great for beginners who need to have better control of the shots. It is easier to control clubs with a smaller head than the ones which are larger and more powerful.

Woods are the longest golf clubs with a long shaft. The number determines the degree of loft available which means that the lower the number a wood has, the longer it can hit and the less accuracy it delivers. The higher number wood provides less distance and a more accurate shot.

The driver is often fondly referred to as the big dog simply because it is the largest wood in a golfer’s golf bag. The 3-wood normally has a distance of 200 yards and the 5-wood has a distance of 180 yards. Steel is heavier and more suitable for the experienced golfers.
